Mr. Nemmers, The Sheriff’s Office has no public data related to this incident. The call did not come in on a 911 line. The phone calls made to our office if released would jeopardize another ongoing investigation. Also, incident you reference is a Granite Falls Police Department case.  You will need to contact them directly for information related to that case. During a meeting between YMC Sheriff Bill Flaten, the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) and the BCA on Thursday, the decision to have the BCA handle the investigation was made because of the multijurisdictional nature of the incident and “to avoid the appearance of a conflict of interest,” a news release from the YMC Sheriff’s Office said. Meeker County Attorney Brandi Schiefelbein recused herself from an assault case last year involving former Sheriff’s Deputy Taylor Fenrich and turned over prosecution to McLeod County. But Schiefelbein is staying on the case against former Deputy Travis Sebring, and she was in court Tuesday for the case’s first hearing since January. After Tuesday’s hearing, Schiefelbein said she concluded prosecuting Sebring did not create a conflict of interest for her. “He’s no longer employed with Meeker County, the Sheriff’s Office,” Schiefelbein said when asked why she decided not to recuse herself.
